Rich & Dan’s Rye IPA – To Friendship and Decades of Brewing!

April 16, 2012

Here's to great beer and friendship!

Over 30 years ago, two freshmen at Harvard University began a friendship. The friendship quickly grew and can now be attributed to creating the longest continually operating brewery currently making beer here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. That’s right, the friendship between Harpoon co-founders Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary spurred the re-invigoration of brewing here in Massachusetts, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

2011 marked our 25th anniversary. This year, we are marking another landmark –the release of our newest year-round offering – Rich & Dan’s Rye IPA!

“When I look back to where Dan and my friendship started, and now being in the brewery and having the knowledge and the equipment and the wherewithal to actually make a great beer like this, it’s really amazing and fun,” says Rich.  “And it’s great that we still enjoy having a beer together.”

Rich & Dan’s Rye IPA is the first year-round release for Harpoon in more than two years.  This beer was first introduced last year as part of Harpoon’s popular 100 Barrel Series, a line of limited batch beers, to celebrate the brewery’s 25th anniversary. You liked it so much (and we did too!) that we decided to bring it back to be enjoyed all year long.

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this beer at your local stores – you should be seeing it soon! If you don’t see it at your favorite store, feel free to ask them to carry it.

This beer is best enjoyed in the company of friends, both old and new, so make sure to raise of Rich & Dan’s Rye IPA to friendship – since without friendship, none of this would ever be possible. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Love Beer. Love Friendship. Harpoon.
