Excuse me, there are oysters in my beer

March 3, 2011

And I like it!

Today, at our Boston Brewery, Harpoon’s Bill Leahy was joined by a massive team of fellow Harpooners and friends from Island Creek Oysters as he brewed up a new batch of Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Island Creek Oyster Stout. The original version of this beer was brewed in January 2010 and became the bestselling Harpoon 100 Barrel Series beer to date.  Due to the popularity of this beer, Harpoon and Island Creek Oysters decided to brew it again.

A homebrewer and oyster lover, Bill was the initial connection between Harpoon and Island Creek Oysters.  “We were really happy with how well this beer came out last year, so we are staying pretty true to the 2010 recipe, making only a few little tweaks and adjustments,” says Bill.  “We are so pleased to be working with our friends at Island Creek Oysters again and plan to celebrate the 2011 batch by cracking open some oysters and bottles of stout with them on bottling day.”

Below are photos of the shucking and brewing:
