The Weekend of Festivities
This past weekend was one for the books here at Harpoon and we celebrated in style.
Friday May, 21 kicked off our HarpoonFest – where we threw a party for 7,000 of our closest friends in order to commemorate and celebrate our 25th anniversary of brewing in Boston. The rain stopped, the tents were up and the beer was flowing for everyone who came out to the Waterfront.
Rich and Dan (who made an appearance in his fire-engine red brewing jumpsuit) came out and officially tapped the
newest session of the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series, Rich and Dan’s Rye IPA. Along with toasting the crowd for coming out to the festival, the co-founders got behind the bar and poured their beer to festival goers, which seemed to be the highlight for many people who waited in line for up to 20 minutes, just so Rich or Dan could serve them their beer.
On Saturday the sun was out for a bit, and it seemed like summer had touched down in New England for a little bit. It may have been the copious amounts of Summer Beer that we poured, or it might have simply been that the end of the world was seemingly close. Regardless of how and/or why the sun came out, people came out in droves to drink some beers, listen to some great live music, tour the brewery and hang out with close friends. We poured plenty of pints had a great time - and that wouldn’t have been possible without all of you guys!
We also held the 10th annual Harpoon 5-Miler road race to benefit the Angel Fund for ALS research. Upon their return, more than 3,000 runners, and their friends and family, were greeted with some fresh beer and a post-race party to raise more money for the cause. This year was a record breaking year - we raised over $110,000 for the Angel Fund. It truly was a Sunday Funday for those who came down, as dance parties erupted in both tents throughout the course of the afternoon.
We had a blast with everyone that came down this weekend… and hopefully we will see you again soon!
Cheers to 25 years!
